Laser Vein Therapy

Spider veins, commonly found on the face and legs, are caused by the dilation of a small group of blood vessels near the skin's surface. They often look like red, blue or purple lines, sunbursts or web patterns. When they occur on the face these spider veins, also called telangiectasias, may be related to chronic sun exposure or exposure to extremes of temperature. They tend to occur on either the nose or cheeks of fair skinned people.

Our CoolGlide Excel® systems deliver pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skins surface, where it should be.

What type of Veins can be treated?

CoolGlide Excel® systems can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small, facial veins (or "telangiectasia") can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Spider veins and large blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results. Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates.

How many treatments will I need?

Often, clients find that two to three treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. Since individual results may vary, we can advise you about your specific condition at your FREE consultation.

What do the treatments feel like?

Most clients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered. The stinging is smoothed by the CoolGlide Excel® hand piece. Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

What happens after the treatment?

Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?

There is no down time for a facial vein treatment. When treating other areas, clients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first twenty-four hours after treatment. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun.

How to prevent Spider Veins.

Don't inhibit circulation in your legs.

The veins in your legs have to work against gravity to carry blood back to your heart. Certain habits can make this process harder on the veins, causing them to become strained and enlarged, which makes them visible. Aid the circulation in your legs by practicing the following habits:

* Don't stay in the same position for long periods. Whether you're sitting at a desk all day or standing in front of a classroom for hours at a time, staying in the same position inhibits circulation. Find time to change things up by taking a walk around your office or putting your feet up between classes.

* Don't cross your legs. This cuts off circulation and puts unnecessary stress on your veins. Sit with your feet flat on the floor to allow the veins in your legs to circulate blood unobstructed.

Wear comfortable shoes.

Your feet are an important part of the circulation in your legs, and if you wear shoes that pinch or otherwise inhibit blood flow, it can lead to the appearance of spider veins.

* Avoid high heels. Heels put extra pressure on your legs and make your veins work harder to carry blood back to the heart. Wear low heels or flat shoes instead.

* Avoid tight boots. Knee-length boots, especially, can constrict your legs and inhibit circulation.
